On October 9, 2006, it was announced that the company would be acquired by Google for $1.65 billion. Six months after the platform opened its first beta service in May 2005 reached two million visitors per day.
The platform, like many other Silicon Valley startups, started out as a startup funded by angel investors in a jerry-built garage. This first video features footage of Karim talking about elephants and their trunks at the San Diego Zoo, making Karim the first Youtuber in history. On April 23, 2005, the first YouTube video with the title ‘Me at the Zoo’ was published by Karim. The domain was activated on Valentine’s Day on February 14, 2005. That’s when they decided to create this platform themselves. Indeed, sharing-finding videos were difficult at that time, and there was no platform for it. These three friends noticed that the video format was not covered on the Internet. YouTube is the brainchild of three ex-PayPal employees, Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim.
